Our new island provides Hi-Flow Diesel Pumps and 89 Octane - Non Alcohol Gasoline
Ethanol free fuel is excellent for older cars, trucks, boats & small engines and will help avoid engine repairs caused by ethanol gas.
Why use Non-Ethanol Fuel?
Ethanol is 20 to 30% less efficient than gasoline. Fuel with 10% ethanol (E10) has decreased fuel efficiency. According to fueleconomy.gov, vehicles will go fewer miles per gallon on E10 than on straight gasoline.
Ethanol fuel is hygroscopic, meaning it will absorb water. If you have water in your gas tank, the ethanol will absorb it causing the water to dissolve the blended fuel and lead to fuel contamination, therefore causing a drop in octane. Water in the gas may cause rust, jerking, poor gas mileage, back firing and stalling among other things.
Due to its tendency to attract water ethanol has a shelf life of no more than 90 days. Boats and small engines that may need a longer shelf life than 90 days should use non-ethanol fuel.
Compatibility With Classic Vehicles.
According to the EPA, ethanol is not recommended for classic vehicles. With fuel systems built before 1980, the EPA recommends yearly inspections of hoses and other rubber components that might be more prone to damage from alcohol-oxygenated fuels, such as E10.
It takes 1700 gallons of water, 1 1/2 gallons of a fossil fuel and a $1.38 per gallon (of ethanol) tax credit from the government, to make 1 gallon of ethanol. It takes 450 bushels of corn to make enough ethanol to fill the tank of an average SUV! That's enough corn to feed one person for a year. It has driven up beef prices, milk and anything that uses corn.
